Supermarket opening hours for May bank holiday 2024: Tesco, Aldi and more

The Early May bank holiday is finally here, promising a day of leisure for many.
Many of us use the extra day off work to catch up with loved ones or tackle a mountain of chores that have been pushed to the side.
Those plans could well be dependent on the weather, but we’ve got our fingers crossed that the rain stays away.
Others might want to hit the shops for a bit of retail therapy before the Monday blues – now shifted to Tuesday – set in, with the likes of Tesco, Aldi and Lidl set to be packed full of shoppers.
But are shops open as normal on May 6? Here’s what you need to know about the supermarket opening hours for the UK bank holiday tomorrow.
Supermarket opening hours on Early May bank holiday
Many supermarkets and shops will be open as normal.
Unlike Easter Sunday, where trading laws mean stores over a certain size need to close for the day, this bank holiday has no such laws around it.
However, stores might be operating under different opening hours so employees can finish earlier or start later to enjoy the bank holiday.
